The Humanoids: +1

I went 15 weeks between Humanoids columns between the last column and the one previous to that. So if you’re surprised that I’m back one week later with a new Humanoids column, it’s completely understandable. In fact, I’m surprised that I came up with enough crap to write to warrant posting this. But here we are but we’re not throwing out +1s in this edition. Then again, when do I ever. Continue reading

Man Lab Link-Off: Being a Boy of Summer

Did you know it’s been 50 days since we last did a Man Lab linkdump? We’ve got a lot of links to go through but let’s start with Raica Oliveira.

You’ve probably seen this list floating around the interwebs but here is COED’s list of the 50 most popular women on the internet based on the number of Google search results. (COED Magazine)

After the jump, food women want, booze for everyone and the Man Lab’s first song recommendation. Continue reading

Best of Eyegasms

In our ongoing Best of the Interweb series, we go to the world of Tumblr and one of our favourite Tumblogs to follow. The gang over at Fuck Yeah Eyegasms dig up and post some of the most gorgeous images from around the internet. Wednesday Link-Off: Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Because she’s doing her country proud and accompanying Sgt. Scott Moore to the Marine Ball, here’s Mila Kunis.

It was the end of an era two weeks ago as Friday Night Lights aired its series finale. It was easily the greatest sports show ever made. (New York Post)

It’s only appropriate that on the week of baseball’s All-Star Game, this gem of a story is re-unearthed. It’s the story of Dock Ellis pitching a no-hitter on LSD. (Deadspin)

To see if it was possible, Deadspin Editor-In-Chief AJ Daulerio tried to recreate the feat using MLB 2K11 on the XBox 360. His effort was filmed and posted for posterity. (Deadspin on Acid)

After the jump, Joe Buck is willing to shut up for us, the best of Top Gear and the return of DJ Steve Porter. Continue reading

How To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse (Infographic)

If there’s one thing that I have as a pet cause, it’s preparation for the inevitable zombie apocalypse. This isn’t my obsession with a pop culture fad. After all, I don’t think that we have much to fear from sparkling vampires. But our continuous efforts to live longer will backfire in a catastrophic way. That’s why today’s infographic is so important. It’s all about how to survive the zombie apocalypse. Continue reading

Worst of Music: Lexi St. George – Dancing to the Rhythm

Remember Ark Music Factory? They’re the soulless bastards that unleashed Rebecca Black on us. Well, with the encouragement of Good Morning America, they’re trying to make another teenager an overnight sensation. This time, CEO Patrice Wilson found his next superstar at a mall rather than thanks to her father’s wallet. This time, we’ve got Lexi St. George and her Ark-produced song Dancing to the Rhythm. God help us all. Continue reading

2011 Toronto Indy Wrapup

The streets of Toronto’s Exhibition Place have been the home to open-wheel racing in Canada since 1986. For the 25th time, IndyCar tore up the streets of downtown Toronto for Canada’s fastest street party. Twenty-six cars including Canadians Paul Tracy, Alex Tagliani and James Hinchcliffe made up the field for a race that was a complete demolition derby. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Like A Boss

Two comedies hit the theatres this week. One is the certified fresh Horrible Bosses starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston. On the other end is the critically panned Kevin James comedy Zookeeper. Have fun at the movies this week folks… Anyway, kicking off this entry is Olivia Wilde in her latest photoshoot with Marie Claire. No she doesn’t appear in any of the aforementioned flicks.

After the jump, more Michael Bay plagiarized Michael Bay, revisiting Ridley Scott’s epic Kingdom of Heaven, Batman is bad for Gotham City, advertisers are ruining reruns of How I Met Your Mother, Field of Dreams 2 and David Choi’s latest music video. Continue reading

The Humanoids: New and Improved Flavour

With the return of summer, I figured that July was a good time for the return of The Humanoids column. I’ve been trying to figure out what’s been missing from the blog and I’m selfishly thinking that my rants are part of it. Well, I’ve decided to revive The Humanoids with a new format. The format is more question-based than topic-based so I can go on a few more tangents than I used to. Will this new format actually get some traction? The only way to find out is to hit the jump. Continue reading
