The Lowdown Extra – Complete Rich Christensen Interview

Tonight on Speed Channel, Pinks All Out will air its event taped at the zMax Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina at 8:00 PM. This is a big episode of All Out because it will feature the first televised four-wide drag race. If you recall, I interviewed Pinks All Out host Rich Christensen just a week-and-a-half before he went to Charlotte for the All Out show at zMax. We talked about the prospect of four-wide racing, changes made for this season of Pinks All Out, his Arm Drop Live drag race weekends, working for Speed Channel, and much more.

Movie Review: 500 Days of Summer

500 days of summer 4This movie is not your typical romantic comedy. 500 Days of Summer is a fresh and funny film as it offers insight in how fate, attraction, heartbreak and hope are associated with a crazy little thing called love. Continue reading

August 4th Episode of The Lowdown

The Lowdown was on-air tonight with a repeat episode of the show. This episode, billed under the label “Previously Enjoyed”, originally aired on February 3, 2009. That was our special Valentine’s Day edition of the show. On tonight’s episode, Steve and Jackie try out pickup lines in a bar, then they come up with a list of love songs that aren’t really love songs but kind of are, they talk about celebrity crushes, Steve goes to the Winter Homecoming hockey game, and Jackie ends the night by trying to teach folks how to cook only to be sabotaged by Steve.

Not News of the Week

If it’s not worth talking about, then we must be bringing you another edition of the Not News of the Week. This week’s theme is Epic Failures.

Robbery Fail
Two would be burglars of an alcohol warehouse didn’t listen to an important piece of advice from Scarface: Don’t get high on your own supply. Two men managed to wheel out some booze and stack some more cases. However, their mission got sidetracked when they cracked open a few bottles. Before they knew it, they were passed out in the warehouse’s yard where police found them the next morning. They were so drunk that they couldn’t even escape. They were brought to court the next morning where one of the men was still so drunk that he wasn’t let into the building. Rather than go it alone, his partner walked out of the court without anyone noticing and the two have been on the run since then. If I were the rozzers (Brit slang for police), I would search in a spiral pattern and look only at pubs and liquor stores. Continue reading

Football Night in Canada: Week 5 Wrapup

Week Five brings us past the one-quarter mark of the CFL season. Now we’re starting to see some separation between the contenders and the pretenders. Hamilton looks like they could make the playoffs while the BC Lions hope they are chumps as they look to march toward the playoffs. The Green Riders, the Eskies, and the Stamps are all tied a top the West Division and are trying to get a leg up. Meanwhile, Winnipeg is trying to get something going this season with a new quarterback. Continue reading

Sunday Link-Off: Happy Civic Holiday or Whatever

emmanuelle-chriqui-gq-3It’s a made up long weekend in Canada. Let’s celebrate with Canadian hotness icon Emmanuelle Chriqui.

Since EA Sports is sent us a copy of NCAA Football 10 to review, we thought we would take a refresher course in video game football etiquette. I know this is for Madden 10 but just substitute the Florida Gators for the Pats and it’ll work out. (Awesomely)

Speaking of etiquette, I don’t think it’s good form to be tasked with selling a soccer team and try to sell it on eBay. Even if it’s only in Britain’s League One. (BBC)

And keeping with etiquette, L.A. Lakers coach Phil Jackson is a stickler for it, especially during games. Just ask movie star Jonah Hill. (LA Times)

After the jump, it’s hard in the press for a pimp, news from the rink, and Raw is Shaq highlights. Continue reading

Entertainment Link-Off: Lost in Space

sienna millerAugust is finally here! While most of the summer blockbusters have already made it to a theatre near you, there are still a few more flicks that are prepping for release this month including G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. The film does have quite the recognizable cast and features some nifty over-the-top action, so I’m really pumped about it. Plus, it also features a very bad-ass Sienna Miller as Baroness.

She was also on Top Gear last week during the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car segment. Don’t forget to check out the series 13 finale of Top Gear tomorrow night!

After the jump, new sci-fi show alert, Top Gear has Twitter (and so do we!), a look at Flynn’s Arcade and what Kevin Smith thinks of Twilight and its fans… Continue reading
