Given how similar we are, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I’m a fan of chef/TV personality Anthony Bourdain. Last November, the Travel Channel debuted a second show starring Bourdain. This new one follows Tony as he spends a day in a city and explores the local culture and food scenes. Appropriately, this one is called The Layover. Fans of No Reservations will recognize the style of show but condensed into a smaller time frame.

Today, we bring you all ten of this season’s episodes including Tony’s layover in Montreal.

Episode 1 – Singapore

Tony’s first 24-hour layover lands him in Singapore, a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities that all come together over a national obsession with food. Tony’s friends take him on a tour of the hyper-modern city that manages to stay true to its culinary roots.

Episode 2 – New York

Tony takes on his hometown of NYC. Having lived and explored the city for years, instead of the typical tourist traps, he visits some of the city’s hidden gems while hanging with his chef friends, David Chang and Eddie Huang.

Episode 3 – Rome

Tony has just over 30 hours to explore the Eternal City. He sets off on a whirlwind tour, from the banks of the Tiber River to deep into the crooked ancient alleyways, sampling as much cuisine as he can along the way.

Episode 4 – Miami

Paying homage to his love for Miami Vice, Tony Bourdain’s Layover in Miami is full of hilarity as he takes in the South Beach Art Deco architecture scene and spots bikini clad roller bladers while cruising around in his red convertible.

Episode 5 – Hong Kong

Tony finds himself on a 48-hour layover in the fast-paced, fascinating city of Hong Kong … in the middle of summer. Tony fights the sweltering heat and oppressive smog as he attempts to get his fill of dim sum and roasted meat before his flight home.

Episode 6 – Montreal

A Montreal Layover for Tony means calling up local friends like Martin Picard to explore the city’s hot spots that can’t be found in any guidebook. He sees first hand how intrinsic the local environment is to food and fun.

Episode 7 – Amsterdam

The last time Anthony Bourdain was in Amsterdam was 40 years ago, and he slept in the park. Tony has just 36 hours to explore the city… this time with a slightly different mindset.

Episode 8 – San Francisco

Tony Bourdain finds himself in San Francisco, a city known by vegan and vegetarian lovers alike. He discovers that San Francisco is actually a “bare-knuckled, 2-fisted drinking town,” where you can get a great meal of raw juicy meat for under $20.

Episode 9 – London

A layover in London, Tony’s “home away from home,” means catching up with chef friends Marco Pierre White and Fergus Henderson. He has just enough time for a few pints and a visit to a real-life little shop of horrors before his flight home.

Episode 10 – Los Angeles

Anthony Bourdain has 48 hours to eat the best food that LA has to offer. He stays at one of Hollywood’s most luxurious and legendary hotels, Chateau Marmont.

The Nurburgring is a relic of motorsports long ago. It was christened “The Green Hell” by Sir Jackie Stewart who won there three times in eight Grands Prix, including his famous win in the rain and fog in 1968. The track is famous for its 21 kilometre, 150+ turn, Nordschlife (Northern Loop) Circuit which has claimed the life of 72 racing drivers as well as another three to twelve public driver each year. But it’s the danger and the history that are part of the allure of this legendary racing circuit.

This year’s NHL All-Star Game is continuing the unique format that made quite a splash last year. For the second year, two team captains will get a chance to draft their own All-Star teams to play with in the NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft. Now Jackie and I thought this sounded like a good idea so we decided to do our own All-Star Game mock draft. We’d alternate picks until we both had 21 man rosters like the real thing.

So how did our mock draft play out? Our draft results after the jump.

The real All-Star Game has the captain named ahead of the draft with the captain selecting his two alternates outside of the draft rules. Since Jackie and I were the general managers of our teams, we selected the captains and alternates in the draft. Therefore, we had to modify our mock draft rules a bit to these:

Captain selected in the 1st round

Alternates selected in 2nd and 3rd round

One of the three captain and alternates must be a defenseman

Three goalies must be selected by round 13 (Round 10 in real life)

Six defencemen must be drafted by round 18 (Round 15 in real life)

21 rounds in total

Injury replacements will be allocated based on the NHL announcement replacement of players

Now that all the legalities and explanations are out of the way, let’s get on with the show.

Round 1

Team Jackie - Steven Stamkos, C, TBL
He might not be on the top of the points list, but he’s damn close. It certainly helps that this kid can score (he is leading in goals at this point). Stamkos might not be wearing the C at the moment with the Lightning, but someday he’ll get there. In the meantime, why not give him an opportunity to lead a bunch of all-stars?

Team Steve - Erik Karlsson, D, OTT
The game’s in Ottawa and I need a blueliner as one of my three captains. Why not get the home crowd on my side by taking a Sen? The fact that E-Karl has the hottest stick of any d-man in the league makes him perfect for the offense-first All-Star Game. Like Stammer, he’s a bit young but if he ever gets to a bigger market, he actually will be a star in the league for years to come.

Round 2

Team Jackie - Claude Giroux, RW, PHI
I never liked the Senators so I don’t feel the need to suck up to the crowd. Might as well just load up on the forwards and pick the D later. I’m sure you know by now that I value offence over defence. That being said, I would have loved to pick up Karlsson, so Steve beat me to it. Anyway, with Richards and Carter out of Philly, Giroux has emerged as the star of the team and has been racking up the points until that brief injury stint. Now that he’s back, I expect more offensive explosion from him.

Team Steve - Henrik Sedin, C, VAN
So Jackie responds to me taking a guy high on his draft board by taking a guy high on my draft board. So I’m just going to take the league’s top scorer and probably the best setup man in the game right now in Hank Sedin. Since there’s no physical contact in the ASG, I think this’ll be a safe pick. But taking a Canuck has pissed away any goodwill from picking Karlsson.

Round 3

Team Jackie - Brian Campbell, D, FLA
I want a puck moving defenceman, so I’ll go with Brian Campbell. After moving to the Sunshine State, he’s had a bit of a resurgence on the scoreboard. Not as high scoring as Karlsson, but good enough.

Team Steve - Marian Hossa, RW, CHI
Well, if I didn’t troll the home fans with the last pick, I did it here. Hossa is one of two Project Mayhem players to make the ASG. As far as fan campaigns go, Project Mayhem was pretty much a total failure. Anyway, Hossa is top 10 in scoring this year and the best player on an inexplicably good Blackhawks squad. That and Hossa was sent packing unlike his replacement, Dany Heatley, who demanded a trip out of town. So maybe the Ottawa fans won’t mind him coming back.

Round 4

Team Jackie - Jonathan Toews, C, CHI
Well just like last year, I pick up Toews in the 4th round. Again, he’s not the most explosive forward out there, but he does bring great leadership. He’s not too far off from Marian Hossa at the moment and is going at an almost point per game rate this season. The man has found his scoring touch in a surprisingly good Chicago squad this year.

Team Steve - Daniel Sedin, LW, VAN
One good pick, one bad pick. One good pick, another bad pick. So if I keep with this pattern, I’ll be taking a Leaf in Round 6. Anyway, taking Danny Sedin here was the logical choice. He’s the highest remaining scorer on the board and can be paired up with brother Henrik for instant chemistry. A win for a Karlsson captained team and all my questionable picks will be forgiven by the home fans.

Round 5

Team Jackie - Evgeni Malkin, C, PIT
I know Steve likes Geno, so if I steal this off him, might get him a bit flustered for the next few rounds. Anyway, with Sid the Kid out of the lineup, Malkin really took the chance to shine. The Penguins can do just fine without Crosby as long as they got Malkin and their usual secondary scoring. It’s probably worth pointing out that Malkin has the highest point per game average among the current list of all-stars.

Team Steve - Jason Spezza, C, OTT
Two can play that game, Jackie. You take my boy (fuck you) Geno then I’ll take your boy, former Mississauga Ice Dog, Jason Spezza. I know the Sens are loaded with All-Stars (after all, four got voted into the game) but Spezza and Karlsson are the starriest of All-Stars on that team. And I have both! By the way, Spezza is top ten in scoring and the top scoring Sen. Even if he tends to be a drama queen, he’s a hell of a player when inspired to be.

Round 6

Team Jackie - Joffrey Lupul, RW, TOR
Funny enough, Jason Spezza was not on my list at all… mostly because of his tendency to be a drama queen. I don’t want that on my all-star team. Anyway, I picked up the dude just in front of Spezza on the scoring sheet. It’s Joffrey Lupul. Apparently he’s one of the biggest ‘surprises’ of this year. I figured he always had the potential to be a good top 6 forward, but was never given the opportunity as a Duck. Now that he’s play top minutes in Toronto, he’s lighting up the scoreboard. Plus, I’m sure he’ll make a few fun tweets during game night. That’s always a bonus.

Team Steve - Phil Kessel, RW, TOR
I told you that I was taking a Leaf in this round. Except Jackie forgot my lesson from last year’s draft: Setup men don’t do as well as finishers in the All-Star Game and our blog poll about our All-Star mock draft. Therefore, Kessel was higher on my board than Lupul. Mind you, it wasn’t like Lupes wasn’t on my board. Kessel’s cooled off since his hot start to the season but he’s definitely established himself as a top forward this season.

Round 7

Team Jackie - Marion Gaborik, RW, NYR
Darn, Steve took away half the combo I wanted. Kessel and Lupul have been doing great for the Leafs and even without a proper centre. Well, since we’re onto the topic of finishers, I’ll take on Marion Gaborik. He’s only one goal off from Kessel at the moment and while Kessel is now starting to cool off, Gaborik is starting to find his groove this season.

Team Steve - Tim Thomas, G, BOS
I told you guys I was taking a Leaf in round six. He could’ve set it up in round five but he had to wait. Anyway, I’ll take the first goalie of the draft. Our rules say all three must be picked by the end of Round 13 so I’ll scoop the best one now. No one is more lights out in the All-Star Game than Timmy Thomas. After that off season in 2009-10, he’s come back as that Vezina Trophy goalie we loved in 2008-09.

Round 8

Team Jackie - Zdeno Chara, D, BOS
There’s nothing more scary than a giant defenceman that eats babies. Nuff said.

Team Steve - Shea Weber, D, NSH
Let’s go big man for big man in this round. You take Chara and I’ll take Weber. Two men with cannons for shots. The difference is that Weber is able to do more with less in Nashville. He’ll definitely have freedom to do what he wants at the ASG rather than play D for Trotz.

Round 9

Team Jackie - Jimmy Howard, G, DET
Well perhaps it’s about time that I pick up a goaltender, so I’m gonna steal Steve’s boy Jimmy Howard. He’s currently leading the league in wins, though it’s mostly due to the fact that he’s the main staple behind the net in Detroit. Without him, the Wings may be on shaky ground in the goaltending department. Howard is still having a stellar year in the current season as he ranks 6th in GAA and 9th in save percentage. Not exactly the top among the goaltenders at the ASG, but he’s certainly reliable.

Team Steve - Pavel Datsyuk, C, DET
Okay, now Jackie’s playing dirty. He better think about scooping Perry right now before I grab him. Anyway, Jackie has sort of forced my hand with this one by grabbing one of my two boys from Detroit. Not that I particularly mind having to make a defensive move to grab Pavel. He’s only the best all-around player in the league right now. It’s not like I’m getting a filler player from a team like Carey Price.

Round 10

Team Jackie - Corey Perry, RW, ANA
As a matter of fact, I will pick up Perry now. Had Steve chosen Perry in the previous round, I would have snatched up Datsyuk now. Anyway, Perry is having a bit of an off year, but the former MVP is still producing in a rather offensively anaemic Ducks team. Not only can Perry light up the scoreboard, he can also add some grit to the team. It all sounds good on paper, but sadly, since when were All-Star Games ever competitive enough to get players to put in effort into the game anyway?

Team Steve - Henrik Lundqvist, G, NYR
You can make an argument as to who the best starter in the league is right now. You wouldn’t be wrong to say Tim Thomas. But you also wouldn’t be wrong to say King Henrik who makes a perpetual case for the Vezina Trophy. He’s got better GAA and save percentage and all but one player (backup Tuukka Rask). I suppose it never hurts building a team that can both put the biscuit in the basket and keep it out. That and I’ve got one goalie left to pick and two viable options left to choose from.

Round 11

Team Jackie - Jonathan Quick, G, LAK
While I’m on the trend of picking up American goaltenders, might as well get Jonathan Quick. While the Kings aren’t doing as well as most are expecting them to, Quick is still holding the fort down so that the team still has a fighting chance in the playoffs. He is currently leading the league in shutouts and ranks among the top 5 in GAA and save percentage.

Team Steve - Brian Elliott, G, STL
I’ll take care of my last goalie now rather than risk getting left with Carey Price. So it’s ex-Sen Brian Elliott for me. This wasn’t just an exercise in trolling though. Elliott is one of the best netminders in the game right now. It was supposed to be Jaro Halak’s team but Elliott has taken the reigns. It’s just a matter if he can stay sharp in the ASG and not let giving up 5 goals in a period affect him on the stretch run to the playoffs.

Round 12

Team Jackie - Alexander Edler, D, VAN
Funny, I think the same thing happened with the goaltending situation last year. I was stuck with Carey Price and Steve got his hands on Thomas and Lundqvist. That worked out awfully well. Though I was hoping to get Brian Elliot. I still regret dropping him from my pool since I expected him to suck like last year. Anyway, since we all know who my last goaltender is, I’ll snatch up another D-man. With Ehrhoff gone from the Canucks, Edler has stepped to be the new scoring leader among the defencemen on the team. Not only that, he’s already on track to outpace his production from the previous season.

Team Steve - Dennis Wideman, D, WSH
Who thought that the first Cap we’d pick would be a blueliner. With that Green guy vanishing off the face of the earth, the new puck-moving defenseman in Washington is Wideman. He’s also got the second highest goal scorer among All-Star d-men and fifth in points. Sure plus/minus is a concern but who plays defense in an All-Star Game?

Round 13

Team Jackie - Carey Price, G, MON
Didn’t have much of a choice now did I? Well no one plays goaltending in an all-star game anyway. Each goalie is bound to let in 3-4 goals per period so it won’t make much of a difference.

Team Steve - Dion Phaneuf, D, TOR
They see me trolling. They hating. They know that I be drafting dirty. See, I can be Nelly… Anyway, I wanted Chara so I could continue my collection of ex-Sens as part of a Project Mayhem team. Then I remembered that Jackie took Chara about six rounds ago. Instead, I have a Leaf. One that is one of the top scoring blueliners in the league and also has a cannon of a shot. If so inclined, he’d also be the biggest physical presence in the game. But it’s an All-Star Game so we’ll have to settle for him ripping a couple from the point.

Round 14

Team Jackie - Ryan Suter, D, NSH
Well since Steve picked up Shea Weber a few rounds earlier, I figured I should snatch the other half of the successful defensive duo in Nashville. If Weber ever leaves the Predators, the next guy to step up to his spot would be Suter. While Suter’s numbers haven’t quite matched those of Weber’s, at least he’s remained fairly consistent over the years.

Team Steve - John Tavares, C, NYI
Since Jackie has Stamkos, I’ll take Johnny T. A little youth never hurt a team and since Jordan Eberle was passed over for the game (that’s what happens when Michalek is voted in), Tavares makes a good alternative. Sure, he doesn’t have Moulson to dish to but he’s definitely going to find someone here to set up. Unless he decides to show off his finishing touch.

Round 15

Team Jackie - Jamie Benn, LW, DAL
Darn, I would have loved to pick up Johnny T by now… (‘Sauga represent!). While we’re on the topic of adding some youth, might as well throw in Benn here. After two straight seasons of 20+ goal campaigns, Benn is currently on track to make that a third year in a row. It doesn’t hurt to have a few snipers on the team!

Team Steve - Patrick Kane, RW, CHI
Did somebody say sniper? Nobody in the NHL snipes better on and off the ice than our boy 20 Cent Kane. Sure, he’s having an off year by his standards but few guys can deke and finish as well as 20 Cent. That and no one can deny the NHL star with the most tabloid/Deadspin appeal is Kane.

Round 16

Team Jackie - Keith Yandle, D, PHX
Ok, so his +/- could use a little work, but at least he’s still a fairly reliable defenceman. He’s currently ranked within the top 10 for points produced by defencemen but he is trailing the production he had last season. That being said, I needed to fill up my defence before Steve does and there’s still plenty of forwards to choose from.

Team Steve - Jason Pominville, RW, BUF
I’ve got some finishers but could really use a good setup man. And look who falls into my lap in the late rounds. The Pominville-ian One is top ten in assists and scoring at a point per game pace. Because he’s in Buffalo, he’ll be the biggest surprise in the scoring stats because you’ll have had no idea how he got there. That and I’m happy with whichever blueliners are left for me in the next two rounds.

Round 17

Team Jackie - Tyler Seguin, C, BOS
Since I like youth, I’ll pick up the Tyler “could have been a Leaf” Seguin. He’s having quite the sophomore season as he’s producing at an almost point per game rate. On top of that he’s holding onto an impressive +34. Sure the injury to Krejci earlier in the season helped boost his status a bit as he was slotted onto the top line, but now that Seguin has grabbed hold of it, he’s not showing signs of wanting to let go.

Team Steve - Kimmo Timonen, D, PHI
Gee, I troll Sens fans. Jackie trolls the Leafs fans. Based on the fan voting for the ASG, I expect an ugly comment section. Anyway, I need two blueliners in the next two rounds so I had to pick from one of the three left. I wouldn’t be unhappy with any of them. Timonen is the best setup man of all of them so I took him here. That and everyone loves the Flyers. No, wait-

Round 18

Team Jackie - Dustin Byfuglien, D, WPG
I’ve always liked Big Buff. He’s a versatile guy who can swap between being a forward or defenceman. Though I’m sure his comfort zone is behind the blueline. He’s having a bit of an off year, but that does not mean he’s not a solid D-man. Yes, the +/- could use a bit of work this season and his numbers are down, which would explain why he’s down from being my former 3rd pick to 18th. Still, I believe he does have an offensive upside compared to Dan G, so I’ll snatch him up and let Steve take the Ranger.

Team Steve - Dan Girardi, D, NYR
Like I said, I wouldn’t be unhappy with either Buff or Danny G. Girardi isn’t as big a scorer as Buff but he doesn’t have those weight problems (there’s a reason they call him BIG Buff). Girardi is what people like to call a glue guy. He might not make the highlight reels but he’s the type of player that makes a team better with his presence. I know the team would be worse off without a character guy like Dan G. I’m starting to sound like Pierre McGuire. I’m saying stuff without actually being insightful… MONSTER!!!

Round 19

Team Jackie - Logan Couture, C, SJS
I’ll continue with my youth movement and pick up Logan Couture. The former 32 goal scorer is still doing well for the Sharks this season. With less than half a season to go, the 30 goal benchmark is still attainable this season. Not bad for someone that’s slotted as the third line centre of a team. The first round pick of the Sharks back in 2007 is certainly living up to his potential at this time.

Team Steve - Jarome Iginla, RW, CGY
Jackie goes with youth, I went with experience. And heroics. After all, did Crosby yell “Logie!” to call for that pass in Vancouver? No, he yelled “Iggy!” loud enough for the TV cameras to pick up over the crowd. The man is a legend and you’d definitely want a key cog to two Canadian gold medal teams on your squad in the nation’s capital.

Round 20

Team Jackie - Alex Ovechkin, RW, WSH
Oh how the mighty have fallen. Normally he would be a top pick… in fact, I picked him 2nd last year. Ovechkin had an off year last year and he has fallen even further off track this season. Does that mean he’s not a star? No. He’s still a skilled hockey player and once he finds his groove again, the Ovi we all know would be back. Now, Ovechkin has always been the fun guy at the all-star games. He has a tendency to show off and goof around a bit more. At least it makes him a bit more adventurous during the game, so perhaps a fancy goal or two can be expected outta him. Sorry Kessel, you’re gonna have to save that camera for another year.

Team Steve - Mikko Koivu, C, MIN
Koivu is out with a shoulder injury and will miss the game. Rumour has it that Dany Heatley will substitute as the injury replacement. Because of our injury replacement draft rules, I can’t quite call dibs on another member of Project Mayhem yet. However, if Jamie Benn is willing to play sans appendix, I’ll get the only injury replacement which does put me in line for Heater. Basically, I preferred to get a player to be named later to one of the remaining Sens. I wonder if Ovi would take a pic of Michalek if he was drafted in the second-to-last round.

Round 21

Team Jackie - Milan Michalek, LW, OTT
Darn, I was hoping to get away with not having to select a single Senator, but I was stuck between Michalek and Alfredsson. Since I’m going with the youth movement, I’ll take up sniper Michalek. So his past two seasons as a Sen have been somewhat lackluster compared to his days in San Jose, but at least his career is back on the upswing this season. Though he is still nowhere near the numbers he has produced in the past, at least it’s headed back in the right direction. Alfredsson is running on fumes at the moment and it’s only a matter of time before he decides to hang up the skates for good.

Team Steve - Daniel Alfredsson, RW, OTT
Damn. I was hoping Jackie would forget that Michalek had some good seasons in the past and I would get another finisher on the wing. Anyway, solely through process of elimination, the forward with the most votes and the real-life captain of one of the All-Star teams falls to last. And now the battle of Ontario evens up. Both teams have players picked last in All-Star Game drafts. Well, we’ll just have to make this work somehow.

The story of Joe Paterno’s death quickly became more than a story about a man dying. It was more a case study of the modern media and it’s shoot first, ask questions later mentality. (Poynter)

With MegaUpload getting shutdown by the FBI, other file sharing websites are tripping over themselves not to suffer the same fate. But are they signing their own death warrants? (Gizmodo)

TV writer/director/producer Ken Levine shows how it’s much harder to be an actor trying to find steady work than a writer in Hollywood. (By Ken Levine)

After the jump, Ray Hudson’s commentary genius, all about Super PACs and another great Family Feud clip.

Ray Hudson is football commentary genius. There’s no one in this world with quality like that. (Deadspin)

Speaking of legendary footballers, Kevin-Prince Boateng is out with an injury again. His girlfriend knows why: It’s because they have too much sex. (Off The Bench)

NFLers are catching up to something we’ve all long realized: ESPN’s Skip Bayless is a professional troll/douchebag. (Shutdown Corner)

Need more proof that ESPN hates hockey. Over the course of 12 late editions of SportsCenter, hockey had less time dedicated to it in the middle of the season than off-season baseball. (Deadspin)

According to the season finale of her reality show, Kim Kardashian had a rather unique way of figuring out that she should get a divorce. I’m just not sure if it makes her look like an idiot or a con artist. (With Leather)

With things in the GOP presidential nomination race heating up, here’s a look at how those Super PACs with limitless funds to help candidates work. (iPolitics)

RIM has a new but can he do anything to change the direction of a company that he’s been helping to a downward spiral for years. (Engadget)

Earlier, I mentioned that MegaUpload was shut down by the FBI. Well, hacking group Anonymous weren’t too happy so they went on the warpath. (Gizmodo)

One video game award no one is talking about is the most accessible game for disabled games. In case you were wondering, the award went to Star Wars: The Old Republic. (Kotaku)

Family Feud is the gift that keeps on giving in the Steve Harvey Era. Best host since Dawson. Only Dawson and Harvey episodes would involve schlongs.

As seems to be the case fairly often in the feature, I hadn’t heard of Tyga until selecting this week’s Worst of Music winner. But his ascension into the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 got my attention. Unfortunately for me, I listened to his song and it wasn’t more than five seconds before it was the week’s top contender and fifteen seconds before it cemented itself as an early front-runner for 2012′s worst of music with his song Rack City.

If there’s one thing that would make me a hypocrite to complain about, it would be profanities. However, I counted 41 profanities (not counting words that would have to be censored for radio play) which makes it one profanity every 3.7 seconds. The worst episode of The Lowdown radio show had one profanity every 61.1 seconds. And that doesn’t include the over 20 mispronounced words.

The best thing that could be said about this song is that it’s a perfect strip club anthem because it’s basically talking about spending time and money at a gentleman’s establishment such as that. At worst (though it would be the most accurate), this song is demeaning to women and anyone with a brain. Say what you will about people who go to and are employed at strip clubs, but these people shouldn’t be referred to using the n-word or “bitch” or “ho.”

Look, I’m not uptight or a prude. However, this could very well be the most offensive song ever to get frequent air play on terrestrial radio. And I can say that before noting that the writing and rhyme scheme are painfully bad.

So congrats, Tyga. You’ve won the prestigious Worst of Music award for this week.

Have a better WoM candidate for next week? Drop it in the comments.

Often, these performances are very good and pass by without a batted eyelash. Then, there are those performances that make you wish you were deaf.

In honour of yesterday’s abomination of a performance of the Star Spangled Banner by Steven Tyler, here’s our list of the ten worst national anthem performances at a sporting event of all-time.

#10 Christina Aguilera

Let’s face it, Christina Aguilera has changed her image so many times that I’m not sure if which Christina Aguilera she is now… Okay, she’s drunk Christina. I think she was trying to channel pin-up Christina here but drunk Christina showed up. She missed a complete line near the beginning. To make up for it, she overdid the rest of the anthem and ended up turning the song from the national anthem to a Christina Aguilera song. There’s nothing wrong with putting your own spin on a song but she overdid it by the end.

#9 Scott Stapp

Putting your own spin on a song is okay if you can sing. Anybody that’s ever listened to Creed knows that Scott Stapp isn’t much of a singer as a growler. And he growls through his own version of the lyrics of the Star Spangled Banner. From the first line, it’s clear that he thinks he’s singing Higher and the whole anthem suffers for it. But this isn’t the worst NASCAR anthem on the list.

#8 Steven Tyler

Well, I couldn’t very well deem him the reason to run the list without actually putting him on the list. Okay, he could only get as high as #8 but at least I made a fresh list. TSN will have their generic anthem list on tonight which won’t have been updated for the last three years. Anyway, Tyler performs a slow, screaming, off-key a capella version of the anthem here. He was probably only saved from a riot because he was wearing that ostentatious Pats scarf.

#7 R. Kelly

I could be wrong but I don’t see how hip-hopifying the national anthem would go over well at all. It wasn’t performed badly as a hip-hop song. It’s just that R. Kelly tried turning the national anthem into his own intellectual property which completely defeats the purpose of opening a sporting event with the national anthem.

#6 Saving Abel

There’s a little bit of personal bias in getting this one on the list. I was actually at the 2010 Carfax 400 where Saving Abel performed this anthem. The guy next to me was doubled over in laughter by the end. And we were all cheering during the pyrotechnics in order to drown out the singing. We all knew we were part of history that day. I’m just doing my part to immortalize this.

#5 Kat DeLuna

Never heard of her? She won a couple of Latin music awards in 2007 and 2008. Then, she performed the national anthem at Cowboys Stadium, the crowd turned on her and her career was effectively over. She tried so hard to put in a memorable performance that she managed to pull it off. She just did it in the exact opposite way of what she intended. Her voice is cracking (likely from trying to sing in too low a key), she overdoes damn well near every line and she generally sounds fake rather than genuine while singing it.

#4 Falling Over Woman

Either we’ve all forgotten this woman’s name or it’s been deliberately erased from all records to protect her from embarrassment. Anyway, during the 2002 World Cup of Hockey, she was drafted in to sing the national anthems in both English and French (presumably because the game was in Montreal). She forgets the lyrics trice and then falls down when coming back with the lyrics. I believe that’s called adding injury to insult.

#3 Dennis K.C. Parks

Parks, credited here as Greg Bartholomew (I assume he changed his name so he could safely travel into Canada) was a Las Vegas lounge singer who got the call to sing Oh Canada prior to the first CFL game in Vegas. It’s clear he was just winging it because he was closer to singing Oh Christmas Tree than Oh Canada.

#2 Carl Lewis

Fun fact: Carl Lewis was the 10th round draft pick (208th overall) of the Chicago Bulls in 1984. He never played in the NBA but he was pretty well-off anyway with his nine Olympic gold medals. However, it was abundantly clear after this that Lewis was a runner and jumper and not a singer. He was out of tune, couldn’t hit the notes and forgot lyrics. He even got Michael Jordan to crack up which given His Airness’ focus was quite an achievement.

#1 Roseanne Barr

I don’t know what the Padres were expecting here. The comedienne with a shrill voice who had no singing experience was drafted in to sing the national anthem at a baseball game with legendarily infamous results. This is the type of singing that would make you wish you were deaf. And, of course, it was topped off with the spit at the end. She already spat all over the Star Spangled Banner with that performance. The spit at the end was redundant.

In case you hadn’t heard, George Lucas is retiring. While his last few movies have been shit, you always hoped he had one more legendary flick left in the tank. (New York Times)

If it wasn’t already obvious, David Lynch is obsessed with coffee. (Huffington Post)

Last weekend, the famed ECW Arena held its final wrestling show. After being home to a revolutionary force in professional wrestling, it will be converted to a concert venue. (The Classical)

After the jump, all about Raonic, love triangles in video games and an Aussie prank war gets out of control.

Tennis’ next big superstar might just be Canadian. And he might just explode your head if he hits it with his serve. (New York Times)

This weekend marks Chinese New Year. It’s the year of the dragon. If you follow KSK’s NFL zodiac, 2012 will be the year of the nose tackle. (Kissing Suzy Kolber)

Here’s an interesting thought: Has anyone ever climbed the fame ladder like former WWE employee and current Clooney arm piece Stacy Keibler? (With Leather)

One theory I haven’t heard too much of as to why Uncharted 3 wasn’t as good as Uncharted 2: It was lacking a love triangle. (Kotaku)

I’m sure we’ve featured stories on this in the past but here’s a look into how Madden is made. (Waste of Bandwidth)

Mark Cuban and a group of other entertainment moguls are revamping HDNet. It is being rebranded into a more live entertainment themed channel called AXS TV. (Variety)

For more entertainment fun, check out this list of the ten best self-satires. (Pajiba)

Opie and Anthony are offering Kris Jenner $250,000 to prove that Khloe is Robert Kardashian’s daughter. (WWTDD) Kris is willing to do anything for money (just look at their empire) so I’m thinking something’s up if she isn’t jumping at this opportunity.

Speaking of the most hated brands in America, here’s a look at the ten most hated companies in America. (24/7 Wall Street)

The first scenes of Raiders of the Lost Ark are recreated using scenes from the movies that inspired it.

What happens when an Aussie prank war escalates to the point where an axe ends up in someone’s car? The other guy gets a bigger axe.

It’s all about action this weekend at the box office. You can catch George Lucas’ passion project WWII flick Red Tails starring Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. There’s also Gina Carano’s acting debut in Haywire. Of course, for those who are fans of seeing Kate Beckinsale with blue contacts and in a tight black corset outfit, Underworld: Awakening is at a theatre near you. The Underworld films have never been great, but somehow Kate Beckinsale does the trick when it comes to drawing me to the theatre, so let’s kick start the ELO with her.

After the jump, a SOPA infographic, a few movie trailers to see, news on some possible movie sequels, Chuck Norris may have ruined The Expendables, Rachel Bilson displays her rapping chops and you should join “The Bark Side”.

Earlier this week, the protest against SOPA has generated quite a bit of hoopla around the net. If people thought China has taken censorship too far, imagine what would happen if SOPA took into effect… Anyway, a nice infographic explaining how the movie industry has got it all wrong. (Matador)

Yes this weekend, we get some over the top stylized action (yet thin on story) from Underworld: Awakening. Another film franchise that runs along the same line is Resident Evil. The latest trailer has hit the web, but sadly it feels more like a Sony commercial rather than a teaser for the film. (Yahoo)

The international trailer for American Reunion shows that the more things change… well… you know… the more they stay the same. But for nostalgia sake, at least it still looks like a fun movie. (Coming Soon)

Director Peter Berg might have his hands full with Battleship at the moment, but he’s quite keen on doing the sequel to the superhero flick Hancock. Yeah, remember that one? Well the ’08 blockbuster starring Will Smith was a fun flick and started off great, I thought the second half of the film was a major letdown. (The Playlist)

For those that were looking forward to a sequel to Bridesmaids, here’s some bad news. Kristen Wiig has confirmed that she’s not going to be involved in it. (E! Online)

The Expendables 2 will be rated PG-13… and it’s all Chuck Norris’ fault! (Slashfilm)

Final poster for The Hunger Games is fiery hot once again. (The Huffington Post)

While we’re still awaiting the fate of NBC’s Community, we can take a look at past “save our show” campaigns that worked. (io9)

Community cast members reimagined as X-Men characters. (Geek Tyrant)

The crew of Hart of Dixie is having a bit too much fun behind the scenes and the end result is an awesome music video featuring Rachel Bilson displaying her rapping chops. For the ladies out there, it also features Wilson Bethel and Scott Porter doing the car wash. (Funny or Die)

Now this is the future of Hollywood. Why would you need inanimate objects, when you can get actors to play inanimate objects? Oh the wonders of technology. Check out this hilarious video starring Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel. (Funny or Die)

I think all the complaints have finally gotten to him. George Lucas will no longer be making more Star Wars movies! (NY Times)

I’m usually not a huge fan of procedural dramas and it looks like I got more reasons to not like them. Even the cops in the shows are getting lazy now. All the answers are simply a click away… (Entertainment Weekly)

The CW is really good with originality when it comes to ordering new pilots for the new fall season… /sarcasm. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Good news Sherlock fans (I’m talking about the BBC series, not the films), series 3 has already been greenlit! (Crave Online)

I absolutely loved Volkswagon’s The Force commercial during the Super Bowl last year and it looks like they’re trying really hard to top it this year. This time around, VW once again uses Star Wars… except instead of having a small kid dress up as Darth Vader, this commercial teaser features cute dogs. Enjoy “The Bark Side”.

Not everything Resident Evil is bad. Film franchise aside, at least the video games continue to be quite entertaining and fun. For those who are excited about the release of Resident Evil 6, here’s a trailer to wet your appetites.

Fresh off the new year, this video featured Youtube artists talking about what they would change about the world and what they would do on the last day of the earth.

And both brunette actresses are better known for their looks than their acting skills.

Today is an internet wide protest against SOPA, the Stop Online Piracy Act, and PIPA, the Protect IP Act. Both these acts were drafted as a measure to curb online piracy but it can be politely described as the shotgun approach to a solution. It basically makes everyone liable for piracy from the companies doing any unauthorized streaming or hosting of files, any company that is deemed to facilitate said streaming or downloading, and anyone actually doing the downloading or streaming. In other words, everyone one on the internet could potentially run afoul of SOPA.

For out blackout day post, we’ve got a look at what specifically make SOPA so horrible and what can be done to keep the internet from changing forever.

What Is SOPA?

Like I said above, SOPA is an anti-piracy act for the internet age. However, this basically gives the Americans carte blanche to censor the internet based on the requests of copyright holders. Under SOPA, US authorities can:

Order internet service providers to alter their DNS servers from resolving the domain names of websites in foreign countries that host illegal copies of videos, songs, and photos.

Order search engines like Google to modify search results to exclude foreign websites that host illegally copied material.

Order payment providers like PayPal to shut down the payment accounts of foreign websites that host illegally copied material.

Order ad services like Google’s AdSense to refuse any ads or payment from foreign sites that host illegally copied content.

The long and short of that is that the US Attorney General’s office can shut down any means of accessing a website directly via a US based internet service provider or through US based search engines. They can also prevent websites from buying ads and ban companies (like PayPal and credit card companies) from processing and distributing payments to websites hosting “illegal” content.

In order to get these four actions taken, a company with illegally hosted content just has to issue a notice to takedown the content. A targeted website has five days from receiving the notice to respond with letter that they will challenge the takedown notice in court. Similarly, within five days of receiving a notice about a website, ISP, search engines and payment firms must cut off these targeted websites. In other words, if you’re a targeted website, you can go to court and go broke or have all traffic and revenue cut off and go broke.

What if the targeted website isn’t in the United States and therefore not governed by American laws? Well, that’s why SOPA talks so much about ISPs, search engines and payment companies. If the Attorney General can’t impose SOPA on you, it’ll impose SOPA on those entities that send traffic and revenue to foreign websites that host illegal content. In other words, SOPA is the beginning of internet censorship. In fact, it contains language that gives some immunity to ISPs who proactively block access to websites they believe are in place for the theft of copyrighted US content. And, yes, these illegal content distribution sites can include places like Facebook, Twitter and anywhere you can link to illegal content, not just the host.

What SOPA does, in effect, is give copyright holders the means to control the internet. Since the Attorney General, copyright holders and ISPs can essentially dictate which websites are accessible by Americans, comparisons to the Great Firewall of China is entirely valid. There are also valid concerns that this censorship could stifle creativity on the internet because people would be running scared of the Attorney General’s goons.

While SOPA tries to help copyright holders protect their intellectual property rights, it goes too far in punishing everyone along the supply chain. Everyone from the host site to the end-user could be fined or imprisoned. That’s too much power for anyone to wield over what could amount to a simple 3-minute MP3 of a song.

Who Is Opposed To SOPA?
Anybody who is anybody on the internet is opposed to SOPA. This includes Google, Facebook, Twitter, Zynga, eBay, Mozilla, Yahoo, AOL, LinkedIn, Reddit and WikiMedia. Every major human rights group is also opposed to SOPA. Interestingly, even the European Parliament passed a resolution stating the ”need to protect the integrity of the global Internet and freedom of communication by refraining from unilateral measures to revoke IP addresses or domain names.”

It’s probably worth noting that WordPress is also participating in today’s blackout. Their users (read: people who blog on the WordPress platform like us) haven’t heard anything directly from them yet. Outside sources (Twitter users and tech blogs) tell me that we’re going to be hit with a blackout here though. Don’t know if it’ll just be the front page or all the blogs, though.

Who Supports SOPA?
The biggest supporters of SOPA are the Motion Picture association of america, the Recording Industry Association of America and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. There are other supporters all of whom have an interest in protecting their intellectual property rights (though those IP rights might not necessarily protected any more so under SOPA). These include Nike, L’Oréal, Acushnet Company (golf apparel), Ford, L’Oreal and Pfizer among over 400 business that publicly support SOPA.

So Why Is The Internet Shut Down Today?

The bosses at Reddit decided to blackout (basically, shutdown) their website today from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM in order to protest SOPA. The Senate vote on SOPA was scheduled to take place next week but was delayed on Monday. However, the blackout will go ahead to get the point across. The idea of the blackout works because the participating websites will show their reasons for protesting SOPA on their front page during the blackout. This will get the message across. Even if the vote is delayed, it will still happen meaning that the blackout still can’t have an effect.

Reddit has confirmed that they will blackout for 12 hours today from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Boing Boing will also participate, likely for 12 hours. Wikipedia’s English pages will blackout for 24 hours on Wednesday which will likely make the biggest splash of the day (unless a social media site joins in the blackout at the last second). As noted above, WordPress may blackout but bloggers are out of the loop on that.

What Can I Do To Help?

Well, if you’re not in America, like us, there’s not much you can do. We’ll all be affected by SOPA (in some way or another) but our opinions don’t matter because we’re not American. The US Congress thinks they can impose their own laws upon the world but won’t let the world have their say when they’ll be affected. Political rant over.

If you’re in America, your best course of action is to get in touch with your Representative in the House or your Senator. You can either call them or send them a letter. The Stop American Censorship website of the group Fight For The Future is probably the best place to go for action to take to get the word out against SOPA.

This week is the world-famous Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction is the premier classic and rare car auction in the world. It’s the sort of thing that rich people go to for buying new status symbols and where real men go to drool over what basically is automotive erotica. It’s basically a week-long celebration of the car where gearheads are king. So to celebrate the year’s biggest car show where the cars and not the manufacturers are the stars, here are ten of my favourite cars from this week’s auction.

1955 Ford Crown Victoria (Lot 50)
Long before it was the thing you least wanted to see in your rearview mirror, the Crown Victoria was a trim level on full-size Ford sedans. The Fairlane was the top trim level while the Crown Victoria was above the normal Victoria trim level. This particular example has a good number of original parts, including the original air conditioner which was the first factory installed air conditioner, and has only 38,000 original miles on the clock.

2001 Chevrolet Custom Van (Lot 356.1)
Why would I call a relatively late-model custom Chevy van one of the best cars going on the block at Scottsdale? This one is a completely custom job for recently retired NBA star Shaquille O’Neal. The van was custom-built for Shaq’s Hawaiian vacations. It has custom wheels, a Louis Vitton interior, captain’s chairs for everyone, a DVD entertainment system (complete with XBox), custom sound system and an HD video projector built into the front of the dashboard to project out the front windshield. In short, this van has a better entertainment setup than my house… And it’s a van.

1981 Chevrolet Corvette (Lot 621)
The third generation (C3) Corvette was produced for 15 years from 1968 to 1983. There was a little hitch in the production of this generation because production shifted from St. Louis to Bowling Green after the 1981 model year. That makes this ‘Vette one of the last St. Louis Corvettes. It’s also a bit on the rare side with a 4-speed manual tied to the 350 c.i. V8 and the two-tone paint. There are some points off for having to be repaired after an accident in 2005 and having an aftermarket suspension. That makes this one a likely target for bargain shoppers… Well, as much of a bargain that you can get at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale.

1965 Shelby Cobra (Lot 727)
It’s called a 1965 Cobra but it’s actually a modern Cobra that was built by Shelby American to the same specs at the ’65 Cobra but using modern parts and methods. The improvements include stronger steel and metal alloys used in construction, better cooling, better heat shielding, better brakes, better suspension and a modern 5-speed gearbox. The 427 c.i. Ford V8 engine is constructed with a cast iron block like it was in the ’60s. Also, this was a special construction project for Shelby which means that this could be a high-priced buy when it crosses the block.

1934 Packard 8 Series II (Lot 960.1)
It’s hard to come by information on the standard Packard 8 on the internet. Then again, it’s hard to come by information on Packard in general which is probably a good indication that it belongs in a collector car auction. This particular 8 is part of a collection so it’s been well maintained and hasn’t been run into the ground at any point in the recent past. It’s also a concourse champion having recently won the National First Place prize from the Antique Automobile Club of America.

1967 Jaguar XKE Roadster (Lot 1241.1)
Don’t know the name but recognize the picture? That’s because what was called the XK-E in America was known as the E-Type everywhere else. The ’67 E-Type was the last of the iconic Series I E-Types before the transitional (and unofficial) Series 1.5. This one has been restored as needed by the original owner who did like to take this one out for a drive from time to time. Who can blame him? I’d go out for a spin regularly in my E-Type if I owned one. There are some new replacement parts in the drivetrain and suspension of this thing but the body is still the original from the factory. After all, as long as this E-Type still looks like the best-looking car ever built, it’s a proper E-Type.

1969 Dodge Charger 2 Door (Lot 1291)
I don’t think I have to tell you that this orange Charger with the 01 on the sides and Stars And Bars on the roof is the General Lee. What you may not know is that this is the original General Lee refered to as “Lee 1.” This car is seen in every episode because it made the jump over Rosco’s cruiser in the first episode which is seen at the end of the opening credits. The car was recovered from an Atlanta junkyard and given a complete restoration over the course of 16 months. Even I’m thinking about putting in a bid on this one.

1964 Cadillac Hearse (Lot 1293)
Of all the cars that Barrett-Jackson will sell this year, I don’t think there will be another one that’s as historically significant as this one. This hearse took the body of John F. Kennedy and first lady Jacqueline Kennedy from Parkland Memorial Hospital to Air Force One at Love Field airport for the flight to Washington for his state funeral. The history of this car speaks for itself. It will be more interesting to see who buys it rather than how much it’s sold for. This could easily be a museum piece but someone could see it as the highlight piece of their car collection.

1970 Plymouth Barricuda AAR (Lot 1554.1)
The AAR Cuda was a special edition Barricuda was the street version of the All American Racers’ Trans-Am race car. Neither the racing Cuda nor the street AAR had the Hemi V8 but the 340 c.i. six-pack (three two-barrel carbs) V8. Apparently this Cuda is only one of five AARs in Lemon Twist yellow with the 3-speed automatic. The seller also says it’s well completely documented and still mostly original. I’m not a Mopar guy but there’s generally complaints that I lack them in these posts. I trust I’ve made up for that this time out.

2010 Dodge Charger NASCAR Nationwide Series Race Car (Lot 3020)
It’s never been a secret that I love putting race cars in these posts. This one is a bit different from the rest because it has a winning pedigree. This is the #22 Dodge of 2010 NNS champion Brad Keselowski. This particular chassis won the Aaron’s 312 at Talladega from the 23rd starting spot. Unlike some of these race cars, all the parts needed to make it run are included, even the engine.

This week’s Worst of Music doesn’t come from the usual suspects on the Billboard Hot 100. Instead, it comes courtesy the producers of Canada’s New Year’s Eve show from Niagara Falls. The first act of the night was R&B turned dance singer Keshia Chante. Good Canadian artist seldom have any trouble getting a break in the US market. However, there’s a reason that Keshia hasn’t gotten into the US and that’s evidenced by her most recent hit song Table Dancer.

as seems to be quickly becoming the standard on the WoM, this song can be easily classified in the generic dance genre. It sound like there have been enough post-production tweaks to her voice that I could’ve sung the song and her record label just said it was her. Mind you, I wouldn’t be singing those awful lyrics. She sings about some connection between dancing on tables and romance. Well, in my experience, there are two types of women who dance on tables: Really drunk chicks and strippers. Since she wasn’t drinking in the video (in fact Wikipedia says there’s a Pepsi endorsement in the video), we have to assume she was the latter. In either case, embarrassingly drunk women and strippers generally aren’t considered relationship material unless said relationship’s length can be measured in minutes and hours.

So congrats, Keshia. You’ve won the prestigious Worst of Music award for this week.

Canada swept the awards for favourite TV drama actor and actress. Nathan Fillion took home the favourite actor award. The favourite actress award was taken home by Nina Dobrev.

I mentioned on Wednesday that LA Kings forward Dustin Penner injured his back while eating pancakes this week. Well, Penner has decided to set the record straight by writing an open letter to Kings fans. (Mayor’s Manner)

The next big thing in fantasy sports is coming from Canada. A Canadian company is at the forefront of live fantasy sports. (Toronto Star)

I’m not sure if ESPN is trolling everyone or if they’re just trying to drive us all insane. One episode of SportsCenter this week had 160 mentions of Tim Tebow. (Deadspin)

After the jump, sports TV fails, TV show creator fails and Samuel L. Jackson plays Call of Duty.

Did two drunk fans invade the Dallas Mavs’ bench during a game in Detroit last week? It wasn’t so much that they were invading as they were being invaded. (SB Nation)

In a slightly similar vein, here is a list of the worst sports TV moments of all-time. (Sports TV Jobs)

Even though the NBA season is underway, some basketball fans are still into hockey. In this article, a recent convert tries to figure out which team is theirs. (The Classical)

Even though I don’t agree with the suspension, we can still have fun with the Brad Marchand five-gamer. Fun includes this Andrew Bucholtz penned parody of The Merchant of Venice. (Sporting Madness)

The live-action Star Wars TV series has about 50 scripts ready to go and now it has a title. The only problem is that George’s name for the series absolutely sucks. (Pajiba)

Other news out of the winter Television Critics Association press tour is that the creator of Two Broke Girls is very sensitive to criticism. That and he’s completely delusional about how bad his show is. (HitFix)

Today in paparazzi news, The Daily Mail says that it gets over 400 Pippa Middleton photos submitted to them every day. It’s gotten so bad that they’ve had to institute special editorial policies for dealing with Pippa. (The Guardian)

How about an entertainment list to close up this linkdump? It’s a collection of the cheesiest fitness montages in movie history. When you think about it, #1 shouldn’t surprise you. (Men’s Fitness)

The gang at Normal Difficulty is back with more of Samuel L. Jackson playing multiplayer shooters online. This time, it’s Sam Jackson playing Modern Warfare 3.

In other video game videos, it’s the top ten video game fails of 2011. Skyrim won the VGA for Game of the Year despite having some epic fails… Or was the epic fail on the part of the voting committee?

James Bond’s theme song now has lyrics. It’s actually pretty epic.

It’s the second week of the new year and it doesn’t look like there are any significant movie release in theatres this weekend. Maybe a 3D re-release of Beauty and the Beast might be something of interest? Or not.

It’s the second week of the new year and it doesn’t look like there are any significant movie release in theatres this weekend. Maybe a 3D re-release of Beauty and the Beast might be something of interest? Or not. Anyway, let’s kick off this entry with Rachel McAdams. She can still be seen in the latest Sherlock Holmes flick which is in theatres now.

After the jump, Elizabethtown is not a bad movie, Gina Carano kicks Channing Tatum’s ass, Community has another homage in the works, Michael Bay is trying to convince you to get the limited edition Transformers disc set, Wonder Girls are back with a new track and music video and finally, a look at some new year’s resolution fails.

I might be one of the few rare individuals that actually enjoyed Cameron Crowe’s Elizabethtown and now it looks like I found another person to back me up. (JoBlo)

Catch the first five minutes of Haywire and witness Gina Carano kick Channing Tatum’s ass. Sadly the fight scene doesn’t quite live up to the hype. At least it doesn’t look bad though! (Hulu)

Did Gina Carano sound a little different in the above clip? Turns out they did alter her voice a bit. (The Hollywood Reporter)

While we’re on sneak peaks, here’s 7 minutes of the film Red Tails and also check out George Lucas’ interview on The Daily Show as he discusses about the film that has been a decade in the making. (Slashfilm)

Good sign or bad sign? Marvel has enlisted Saving Private Ryan scribe Robert Rodat to rewrite the Thor 2 script. (Deadline)

Breaking down the trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. Oh while we’re at it, let’s start throwing in some interesting speculations as well. (The Sports Hero)

More reasons to love Community. The show will be paying homage to Law and Order later this season. (TV Line)

Hansel and Gretel with lots of artillery. Sounds interesting right? Sadly if you want to see this retelling of the fairytale, you’re gonna have to wait since the release date has been pushed back quite a bit to accommodate Jeremy Renner’s increasing star power. (Moviefone)

In true James Cameron fashion, could the Avatar sequel be delayed? The producer mentioned that the next Avatar flick is still 4 years off, pushing it beyond the expected release timeframe of the movie… (Bleeding Cool)

Kris Humphries isn’t getting much love from NBA fans lately, but could it be because everyone is on Team Kardarshian? Perhaps not! It just might be basketball fans hatin’ on him for abandoning bball in favour of being on a reality show. (Entertainment Weekly)

Director Steven Soderbergh likes to channel his inner Hitchcock and kill off major movie stars in his films. (The Independent)

Watch Michael Bay pimp the limited edition of Transformers: Dark of the Moon blu-ray release. (Vimeo)

The Chinese sure loves their robots. Transformers: Dark of the Moon topped the box office in China in 2011. (Variety)

The movie has been shelved for a while, but it’s finally getting some additional positive hype. The not-so-conventional horror flick The Cabin in the Woods is now going to open the SXSW festival! (Movieline)

The Wonder Girls are back to make another splash in the US music scene. This time it’s the infectious track The DJ is Mine.

New music video for afterschoolspecial. The MV is shot from a first person’s POV and features cameos from quite a few Youtubers.

Remember when George Takei called a truce upon Star Wars and Star Trek fans to unite against Twilight? Well… William Shatner rejects the truce.

So we’re about two weeks into the new year, so how are your resolutions coming along? Have a look at the hilarious video on a series of resolution fails out there.

The Royal Mint has released a serious of special collector coins to commemorate the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games. As part of these collector coins, the Royal Mint had the public submit designs for the coins. Some were amazing like the football (AKA soccer) coin which explains the offside rule while others like tennis are very underwhelming. And each can be yours for only £2.99 which is only six times more than the 50p face value.
